Ligeophila rosea (Lindl.) Garay


Orquídea terrestre, de crecimiento rizomatoso que suele encontrarse creciendo en condiciones sombrías y en ambientes con mucha humedad, como bordes de arroyos o bajíos, es poco abundante y no muy conocida. Presenta hojas distribuidas en una roseta laxa en la parte superior del tallo. El tallo es erguido, de unos 8 a 10 cm. Las hojas son de base envainadora, elíptico-lanceoladas, levemente lustrosas y de color verde oscuro.
La inflorescencia es apical, multiflora, con flores que van abriéndose de la base hacia el ápice . Las flores son blancas, con los extremos de sépalos y pétalos rosados a púrpura. La época de floración es en el verano (enero-febrero).
El género Ligeophila consta de unicamente 8 especies, a dos de las cuales podemos encontrar en la Argentina.

Terrestrial orchid, rhizomatous growth that is often found growing in shady conditions and high humidity environments such as streams and edges of flats, is not abundant and not very well known. The leaves are distributed in a loose rosette at the top of the stem. The stem is erect, about 8-10 cm. The leaves are sheathing base, elliptic-lanceolate, slightly shiny and dark green.
Inflorescence apical, multiflora, with flowers that are opening from base to apex. The flowers are white with the tips of sepals and petals pink to purple. The flowering season is in summer (January-February).
The genus consists of only Ligeophila eight species, two of which can be found in Argentina.
